Early Childhood Programs

Dance for preschool aged children encourages physcological, emotional and cognitive development in a fun, active and creative way. Dance class will also help a young child develop social skills and participate cooperatively in a group. For the very young child, movement is preverbal and can be a valuable outlet for thoughts and emotions as the child's language structure expands. Our early chilldhood dance program is designed to provide a joyful dance experience in a safe and supportive environment to ensure that each of our young dancers is developing a love and appreciation for dance that will last a lifetime.

We believe that understanding music and dance go hand in hand at this stage. Our licensed Kindermusik instructors will take you and your child on a journey in the world of music and movement with Kindermusik "Village" for babies up to 18 months and Kindermusik "Our Time" for toddlers. All classes at this age are taught to the child and their special grown-up together. If you have more than one child in this age range, ask about our "Family Time Class."

Children in our Preschool Dance Classes will be introduced to the basic elements of dance including: Rythm and time, movement qualities and dynamics, space and use of body. Students will explore their own movement within the age appropriate creative structure of the class while gaining confidence and body awareness. Prerequisite for Preschool Dance II is age 4 by September 1 of completion of Preschool Dance I.

Bringing children of all ages together provides a dynamic and integrated learning experience for everyone. So we took favorite Kindermusik songs and activities like "Shake, Shake the Apple Tree" and "hammocking" and rolled them into a fun, family class where each child is welcomed and valued and family "together time" is celebrated and cherished.

In a Kindermusik Village class, we take those special bonding moments between you and your baby and add in a unique blend of musical learning activities that stimulate and engage all of the senses. Your educator will teach you how to encourage your baby's learning through vocal play, object exploration, instruments, and creative movement.

For your toddler, every day brings new discoveries and opportunities to explore the world around him. Despite your toddler's seeming independence, he still longs for the safety and security of parental closeness. During this time, your toddler still relishes the comfort of the familiar while also seeking the challenge of something new.

Kindermusik Our Time encourages her to be creative, to initiate her own ideas and to respond in her own ways, while your active participation gives her the security she needs. As you play instruments, sing, move, and explore, you'll uncover an engaging musical world while building your child's confidence, self-control and communications skills.

Created for the child enrolled in a childcare center or pre-K program, ABC Music & Me is a research-based language and early literacy program built around music.. ABC Music & Me helps two to six-year-olds develop pre-literacy and language skills through a child's most-loved rituals: music and story time.

ABC Music & Me supports the early childhood standards and requirements for "high quality programs" as defined by the National Institute for Early Education. Plus for the older age group, ABC Music & Me aligns with pre-K national and state standards.

Kindermusik™ is an early childhood music and movement program that originated in Germany in the 1960's and came to the United States through the Westminster Choir College in Princeton in the 1970's.
Today Kindermusik™ is a community of families and teachers commited to bringing music to children's lives through developmentally appropriate curricula, CDs, books, instruments, and activities for our classes and for family music time at home.
